Controlling Sarcoptic and notoedric Mange in Animals

The condition that could cause the animal to scratch and rub against surfaces due to severe itching is Mange.
Mange is a disease caused by tiny microscopic parasites called mites. These organisms infest the skin of affected animals or humans. There are a variety of species of mites.

Summary:

Proper care, good hygiene, and the maintenance of good health will increase the animal’s resistance to skin disease. Canine mange mainly occurs on young animals which are undernourished and suffering from internal parasites and mothered by infested animals. Animals should not be permitted to mingle with mangy animals or contact premises occupied by them since individual contact is the most important method of transmission. In almost all cases of mange on animals a veterinarian should be consulted.

Practical Instruction:

Mites are most often introduced on infested animals. Prevention relies on identifying and treating these animals.
Most mites do not survive for long periods off of the animal, but
in some cases you may need to treat the animal’s environment.

1. Treat the animal quickly and all the animals in a group aginst Mange at the same time otherwise mites from animal you do not treat will soon spread back to others.
2. Spray the animals using acaracides like supona, mil;bitraz, tsetse tick etc.
3. Treat animals again after 2 weeks time
4. Clean the house where animal live.
5. Feed the animal with well mixed feeds and mineral salt from the local veterinary Shop.

Conditions for success:

If the instructions are properly followed

Conditions for failure:

If the instructions are ignored and the sick animals are not quarantined

Expected short term effect:

The animal should normalise after 7 days

Expected mid-term effect:

The animal should have stoped scratching and live in health life.

Expected long-term effect:

The animal will be healthy, strong and normal.
